Steve Israel is an American author, political commentator, and former U.S. Congressman who represented New York in the House of Representatives from 2001 to 2017. After leaving Congress, he opened Theodore’s Books, an independent bookstore in Oyster Bay, New York. Israel is the author of the political satires The Global War on Morris and Big Guns, and his essays and commentary have appeared in major outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlantic. His historical thriller The Einstein Conspiracy explores Nazi plots, domestic extremism, and the dangers of political complacency in 1930s America.
