Marjan Kamali is an acclaimed author celebrated for her upcoming work, The Lion Women of Tehran (July 2024), as well as bestsellers The Stationery Shop and Together Tea, the latter being a finalist for the Massachusetts Book Award. Awarded a 2022 National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship, her novels have been translated into over 25 languages, showcasing her global appeal. Kamali’s insightful essays have graced publications such as The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Review of Books. Her academic achievements include a BA in English literature from UC Berkeley, an MBA from Columbia University, and an MFA in creative writing from NYU. Born in Turkey to Iranian parents, she has lived in multiple countries before settling in the Boston area, where she currently serves as a Scholar in Residence at Brandeis University’s Women’s Studies Research Center, enriching her diverse and multicultural background.
